About Tonya

I have been practicing and teaching yoga for more than 25 years. I came to the practice at a difficult time. Yoga helped me grow and learn how to experience life with a perspective. Yoga has been a constant support for nearly every situation life brings.

I began teaching yoga to my art students at the Italian home for Children to help them deal with the emotional challenges, many who had been abused and neglected. I studied with Sonia Sumar, founder creator of Yoga for the Special Child to become a certified yoga teacher. This training led me to start a private practice teaching children and adults with both physical and developmental disabilities.

Additionally I hold a certification through Swallowtail Yoga Teacher Training 200hrs, Integral Yoga Prenatal Teacher training, Yoga Ed and Get Ready to Learn yoga. I spend my mornings teaching yoga to toddlers and preschoolers at Rock and Roll Daycare.

As a parent, serving new mothers through the process of birth and motherhood is also close to my heart. I am certified in prenatal and postpartum yoga and am also a labor support and postpartum doula. In 2020 I began taking multiple meditation and conscious parenting courses with Dr Shefali, to support myself as a parent. SInce 2017 I have been working with Isabel Terney using the Feel Good Life Methodology to learn more about the brain and the stress response. To share these valuable tools with parents and others, In 2023 I became a facilitator of the Feel Good Life Methodology.

To better serve my students and to work through my own challenges I continue to study yoga and mindfulness. I am currently enrolled in a six month Mindful Birthing childbirth educator training with anticipated certification by March 2026.

In my yoga classes you will experience a deeply mindful practice. Whether it is a strong practice or a restorative practice you will be guided and supported to discover your own inner teacher with joy and compassion.
