Pregnancy and Beyond
Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your prenatal yoga classes at Isis in Arlington. I had my baby last week two days after my due date. He was 8 pounds 14 ounces and I was so glad for having done yoga. I think it helped me mentally during active labor and definitely physically during pushing. Even in the first ten days postpartum I often find myself thinking of mountain pose to get myself standing up straight.
I loved the class and just wanted to give you an update and say thanks.

Tonya began teaching Prenatal Yoga since 2007 after attending a nine day Prenatal Yoga and Yoga for Labor and Delivery training through the Integral Yoga Institute at Yogaville.

With over 8 years of teaching in the field and practice through two pregnancies, Tonya has extensive knowledge of yoga during and after pregnancy including yoga for diastasis recti and pelvic floor issues.

The pregnant body and maternal mind are unique and amazing. Taking prenatal yoga with Tonya, you can expect strengthening and restorative yoga postures, breathing practices, and fluid movement that may be used during an active labor and appropriate for all stages of pregnancy.  Flowing sequences and holds for strength, flexibility, and balance help prepare the body for the changes during pregnancy and childbirth as well as postpartum recovery. Restorative postures and breath awareness help to balance emotions and facilitate relaxation within the body. There is a strong focus on connecting with your baby growing within and listening to the body’s innate wisdom.  The class is finished off with a long guided relaxation.

Tonya has a deep passion for motherhood and childbirth.
